Another byline shared with Boardroom editor Brian Kurtz. The cartoon is strictly for the Direct Mail industry, and I’m sure it doesn’t make sense to anyone else. Brian came up with the gag and the caption.

This is one of the rare times I shared a byline. I didn't know very much about the jargon or inner workings of the direct mail business, so Boardroom editor Brian Kurtz occasionally suggested the gag situation, and supplied the words, too. Whenever I felt his contribution was major, I added + KURTZ to the signature.

Another one of my personal favorite gags. Which means that I thought it was worthy of The New Yorker. Of course I was mighty pleased that The Chronicle appreciated the cartoon, after The New Yorker rejected it.
