Winner of Eli's Cartoon Caption Contest No. 108

"I haven't gotten to an ATM since we met this morning . . . "

                                         (by Brendan Powers)

My original caption: "I already gave at the corner of Ninth and Main."

Wow, a sixth victory for you, Brendan Powers -- you have really been on a hot streak lately. Once again you can command the title of "one of the funniest people around". Congratulations!

Lots of good captions to choose from. These are the others that were under serious consideration:

"Cash is so old-fashioned. Do you take Bitcoin?" (by John Platt)

"I'm broke as you! This is my Halloween costume." (by Harvey Appelbaum)

"Sorry. You're too late. My wife already robbed me. " (by Jeff Groth)

"Apparently you have not heard about Bitcoin." (by Marc)

"But, I gave at the office." (by Marvin Sager)

"First come, first served." (another one by Brendan Powers)

"Sorry, I'm a retired teacher." (by Tim Collins)

"Well, there's your proof that crime doesn't pay." (by Cary Antebi)

A word of advice to all captioneers: please be aware of who is doing the talking in the contest drawings, and make sure your caption is written accordingly. A caption that comes out of the mouth of a non-speaker would automatically have to be out of consideration.

The drawing for the next contest will be posted, as usual, in a couple of weeks.

Eli's Cartoon Caption Contest No. 108

Contest No. 108 starts right now.

Briefly, here are the details: I'll supply a drawing of one of my old cartoons that has never been published, leaving off my caption. You are invited to supply your funniest captions. Simply (1) click on "Add New Comment". Then (2) scroll down past any other submitted captions and type in your name and your caption in the spaces provided. Then (3) click "Save". Your caption (or captions) will be posted after I review your submission.

There is no limit on the number of captions you can enter for each drawing. Entries will be accepted and posted for one week, after which a winner will be announced and the winning caption will be printed. Below that I will also print my original caption.

The cut-off time and date for you to send in your captions is midnight Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

I will be the sole judge. The winning caption will be the one I judge to be the funniest one submitted (not necessarily the one that matches or comes closest to my original caption). Additional rules and regulations, for those of you who need such things, can be found here.

Below is the drawing that needs your funny captions.

Winner of Eli's Cartoon Caption Contest No. 107

"Shhhh, your apron is too loud."

                                            (by Cary Antebi)

My original caption: "Don't tell me, let me guess. You want a barbecue cookbook?"

What?! Another win for Cary Antebi? Yes, and it's a good, solid caption, for your TWENTY-FOURTH top prize. Congrats once again, Cary Antebi . . . you are consistently one of the funniest people around.

Here are the other captions that I was seriously considering:

"Sorry to tell you this, Sir, but your face does not match the enthusiasm of your apron." (by Sharon)

"Not so easy, is it?" (by Tim Collins)

"Cook books are on aisle 3, dressing for success, aisle 6." (also by Cary Antebi)

"Sorry, we don't have a book called 'Barbecuing for Dummies'." (by Arlene Grand). [Actually, Arlene, I'm pretty sure there is such a book -- if not, there certainly should be one.]

"Barbecue books are at 641.76; books on putting out fires are at 363.37." (by Kelasher)

"'Dress for Success'? Aisle 3." (by Jo Pette)

Nice going, captioneers. Look for Contest No. 108 in just a couple of weeks.
