Stitches, 2001

Another cartoon sold to Stitches, a Canadian medical humor magazine that folded in 2007. This sale was made in 2001, but I don't have a copy of the printed cartoon, so I'm posting my own file copy, with a hand-printed caption.

Winner of Eli's Cartoon Caption Contest No. 46

"Do you see how easy it was to get up here?
So, no need to worry about flooding!"

(by Gary)

My original caption: " . . . and here we have the roof."

Congratulations, Gary! This is an impressive third win for you, so you are indisputably one of the funniest people around.

Overall, I was very impressed by the quality of the captions submitted this time -- probably because practically every one of them was better than my own lame original caption. Good work!

Some of the other captions I was considering for top honors:

"And, as promised, a lovely view of the lake." (by kelasher)

" . . . and these 30-year shingles are guaranteed to outlast your marriage." (by Caryn)

"Take your time, I have the ladder rented for the whole day!" (by Douglas A Bennett)

"It's only five minutes away from the train station by helicopter." (by Cary Antebi)

Eli's Cartoon Caption Contest No. 46

Contest No. 46 starts right now.

Briefly, here are the details: I'll supply a drawing of one of my old cartoons that has never been published, leaving off my caption. You are invited to supply your funniest captions. Simply (1) click on "Add New Comment". Then (2) scroll down past any other submitted captions and type in your name and your caption in the spaces provided. If you are prompted to enter a CAPTCHA code, please do so. Then (3) click "Save". There is no limit on the number of captions you can submit for each drawing.

Entries will be accepted and posted for one week, after which a winner will be announced and the winning caption will be printed. Below that I will also print my original caption. The cut-off time and date for you to submit your captions for this contest is midnight Tuesday, January 15, 2013.

I will be the sole judge. The winning caption will be the one I judge to be the funniest one submitted (not necessarily the one that matches or comes closest to my original caption). Additional rules and regulations, for those of you who need such things, can be found here.

This is the drawing that needs your caption:
