Welcome to the Eli Stein Cartoon archive. To begin, read my introduction and personal notes, and then please look at the cartoons, which are categorized by either decade, publication name or topic. I’ve included some personal comments, memories and photos below many of the cartoons. I’ll be adding cartoons, memories and photos ad infinitum. Remember, your comments are appreciated (just click on the “comment” link at the bottom of each post).
If you would like to reprint any cartoon found on this site, please contact me at elilast@verizon.net. Reproduction or publication for commercial purposes of any of the cartoons on this site without prior permission is strictly prohibited.

Picture a flat screen tv and this cartoon is just as relevant today as it was 30 or 40 years ago.
Alternate caption idea:
“Now that you’re six month postgrad will you try to come up with a plan for the future that includes the return of your cap and gown?”
Ha! Good alternate caption.
Nobody is accusing you of resting on your laurels, but graduation was three months ago
It may be true that there are no jobs “out there”, but around here the lawn needs mowing and the gutters need cleaning
If you don’t start looking for a job soon, I’m going to toss you into the air
If I play a recording of “Pomp and Circumstance’ will you march to the kitchen and put out the trash
Well maybe if we hadn’t spent a small fortune on your tuition, we could afford a better TV
If I had known what Broadcasted Visual-Audio Media Studies was, I never would have paid for your tuition
What do you mean “the whole point of getting the degree was that so you could finally laugh at reruns of Frasier”
What do you mean you’re “too busy appreciating the inanity of network TV on a whole new level”
All well and good, Perry Andrews, but I have to repeat what I’ve said many times before: This is not the start of a new Caption Contest — it is merely me adding to my ongoing archive of published cartoons. The new contest is announced with a posting that says “Eli’s Cartoon Caption Contest No. xxx”, and shows a drawing that has never been published, without a caption, along with the rules. The new Contest will appear soon and I hope to see some of your new captions at that time.
Sorry about that. I look forward writing entries for an actual contest.
Hey Perry, I’m no expert but I thought some of those captions were quite good. Hope to see what you come up with in the next caption contest.
