Winner of Eli’s Cartoon Caption Contest No. 194

“Next time when that buzzer goes off, come in immediately!”

(by Rich Wolf)

My original caption: “Whitmore, you’re not by any chance wearing a wire, are you?”

Wow, Rich Wolf, congratulations on your fifteenth victory. And since you won the last two Contests, this is a trifecta celebration. There’s no question about it, you’re definitely One Of The Funniest People Around!

Here are the other captions that were being seriously considered for top honors:

“Before we talk about the stock buybacks, Hoffman, are you by any chance wearing a wire?” (by Gayden Wren)

“I like you Hanson, you’re very efficient . . . I should have gotten an electro-robotic secretary years ago!” (by Kay Ralph)

“It’s nine a.m.! Are you charged up and ready to go?” (also by Kay Ralph)

“Henderson, what do you make of the rumors that we’re being investigated and some employees are wearing a wire?” (by Marc Eliot Stein)

“At least you could shut off the sound.” (by Michael Lomazow)

“Ed, next time you wear a wire you may want to find one that uses a battery powered wireless microphone!” (by Lee Lacewell)

“We need to put you on a shorter leash.” (also by Michael Lomazow)

A note of thanks to all you other Captioneers, and a sincere nod of appreciation for all the submitted captions that, with varying alternate words, came very close to my original caption from many years ago.

Contest No. 195 will be posted shortly, so be on the lookout for it.

Thanks for participating, Captioneers, and have a safe, happy and healthy 2023!
