Winner of Eli’s Cartoon Caption Contest No. 147

                               “Isn’t this, I don’t know, overkill?”

                                             (by John Platt)

“The gun is kind of overkill, don’t you think?”

                                             (by Rich Wolf)

My original caption: “This isn’t at all the way I imagined it would be.”

Okay, a tie it is. Congratulations, John Platt (fifteenth win) and Rich Wolf (fifth win)! Their captions were quite similar, but I know there was no sneaky copying or collusion involved, because I didn’t post any captions at all until May 24th, long after both of these entries were submitted. So, John and Rich, the two of you are definitely once again in that honored club: you are two of the funniest people around.

For some reason, many of you captioneers ignored the gun in the Grim Reaper’s hand, and then just treated this as a simple GR situation. And a few of you even had the GR speaking, which was a plausible interpretation, I guess.

Here are the other captions that I was seriously considering for top prize:

“Well, definitely my money.” (by Gayden Wren)

“Yes! Yes! I’ve cheated Death many times but that’s no reason to make this personal!” (by Brendan Gannon)

“Can we at least wait to see if the Rogaine actually works!?” (by Ronn Roxx)

“Seems you’re buying me a shiny new scythe.” (by Sagie Tvizer)

“You are too late, my wife took it all, ‘body and soul’.” (by Diane)

“This has been a great near-death experience. Catch you later?” (by Sharon)

The next contest will be posted soon — keep on the lookout for it. Thanks for participating.

  1. One additional comment – Mr.
One additional comment – Mr. Vaughan’s submission, regarding the
COLONOSCOPY, was also a HOOT! ( After working in a Doctor’s
office, I can attest to, people’s overly-dramatic reactions
to this simple and beneficial test.)
I think Many people would relate to this one and be amused.
