Winner of Eli’s Cartoon Caption Contest No. 141

“Sorry, chum . . . there are NO school snow-days! I grabbed my snow globe, by                                                     mistake.”

                                               (by Kay Ralph)

My original caption: “It’s the same old story — you’re going to meet a girl . . . then you’ll lose her . . . but in the end you’ll win her back.”

Congratulations, Kay Ralph, for this big second victory (the first one was not that long ago, in Contest No. 138). This certainly solidifies your claim to the title of “one of the funniest people around”.

Lots of good captions were submitted, and these are the ones that got serious consideration for top honors:

“Sorry, you’ll never be taller.” (by Harvey Appelbaum)

“Your reading is coming in a bit cloudy, but for $50 more it will become much clearer.” (by Diane)

“You wouldn’t believe how silly the curved reflection of your face looks!” (by David Grand)

“Let me Google that for you . . . ” (by Marc)

“You will definitely be getting older in the future. And wiser. That’ll be 100 dollars.” (by Rich Wolf)

“I’ll be right with you. I just need to finish this Hallmark movie.” (by charles vaughan)

“Things are a little cloudy. My wifi router is acting up again.” (by Ronn Roxx)

By the way, I have to comment on Ronn Roxx’s caption, “A complete reading is fifty dollars, but there’s a five dollar mail-in rebate.” It happens to be the exact wording of my original caption for Contest No. 126. Check it out. And . . . Ronn Roxx . . . don’t you agree that the caption works much better with a woman customer than with a kid customer? Betcha thought I wouldn’t notice, huh?

A new contest will be coming up soon, so be on the lookout for it. And thanks for participating.

  1. An honor, once again! Glad I
An honor, once again! Glad I decided to include the winning caption. I almost didn’t! I was leary that you might find my Crystal ball/Snow globe comparison too corny. However, after reading another captioneer’s fish bowl comparison (which I found funny), I decided to submit it, and to my surprise, it paid off!
