“I’ve been told by management it’s bow tie OR suspenders, never both.”
(by Rich Wolf)
My original caption: “Yes, Hopkinson, you’re still my heir apparent.”
Yes, this makes two consecutive victories for Rich Wolf (and three victories in all). Congratulations, Rich — you have proved once again that you are indeed one of the funniest people around!
I still think that my original caption was a pretty good gag, and could never figure out why my cartoon never sold.
Here are the other submitted captions that were in the running:
“Anderson, I think it’s time to admit that our attempt to become a paperless office has failed.” (by John Platt)
“It says right here in the company rules and regs, ‘no suspenders’.” (by Mel Tanenbaum)
“Excellent sales record, Mr. Martin, but I don’t think that you’re quite the right fit here, at ‘Belt Boutique’!” (by Kay Ralph)
“Welcome to your first post-retirement job you never thought you’d need to have.” (by Jonathan Stein)
“You’re just the man we were looking for fifty years ago.” (by Cary Antebi)
“Congratulations, Lance, Best-Buy management thinks you’re just the man to head up the ‘Geek Squad’!” (by Tim Collins)
There were lots of good submissions here, captioneers. Be on the lookout for Contest No. 135, coming up soon.
