Winner of Eli’s Cartoon Caption Contest No. 99

“Hey, Buddy, don’t look so gloomy, this ‘jailhouse rocks’.”

                                                (by Diane)

My original caption: “And then, in 1946, I plagiarized . . . “

Yes, we have a brand-new, first-time winner! You are now officially in that elite group, Diane — one of the funniest people around. Congrats!

I don’t know if my old original caption, from so many years ago, needs an explanation . . . so I’ll just say that in those days of yore, many a folk singer plucked his guitar and introduced his next song by saying something like, “And then, in 1946, I wrote . . . “.

These are the other captions that were under consideration this time:

“This is the song that never ends . . . ” (by Kelasher)

“We’re going to slow it down a little bit.” (by sharon)

“You are so beautiful, to me.” (by mel tannenbaum)

“What did you expect when you got transferred to Sing Sing?” (by Cary Antebi)

“I’m part of the warden’s ‘cruel and unusual punishment’ program.” (also by Cary Antebi)

“They put me in jail because I killed this guy who didn’t compliment my singing. How do you like my singing?” (by Howard Garrett)

Caption Contest No. 100 will start in two weeks . . .  that’s right, No. 100! So be on the lookout for it, and keep up the good work, captioneers.
