Winner of Eli’s Cartoon Caption Contest No. 87

ITS A TIE!!

                                 “You got ANYTHING digital here?”

                                              (by Cary Antebi)

                                            “Where do I login?”

                                           (by Brendan Powers)

My original caption: “I don’t suppose you would have a computer with a 700 MHZ processor, 128 MB of memory, 12 GB of disk space and a DVD-ROM drive?”

It’s been a while since I had to declare a tie for the winning caption, but here it is again. Cary Antebi has won again (for the twenty-second time) and Brendan Powers has his very first win. Congrats — both of you now get bragging rights as two of the funniest people around!

My original caption really dates my cartoon — about twenty years old, I would say. I’m sure I just lifted all the “MHZ”, “MB” and “GB” info from the latest computer catalog that I could find at that time. I’m glad I never had to explain what all that stuff meant.

Here are the other captions that I was considering for top honors:

“I’m interested in buying the garage but why is there so much junk everywhere?” (by Anonymous)

“I’ll take the garage.” (by Jonathan Stein)

“Madam, I was robbed 3 weeks ago and those are the items that were stolen.” (by Howard Garrett)

“I don’t think this is how Microsoft started out of a garage.” (also by Cary Antebi)

“When is this through, Mother? I’d like my room back.” (also by Brendan Powers)

“Mum, if I was you, I’d put the letter B in the middle of Garage.” (by Ken Wilkinson)

“Let’s see, Mom — Garage Sale today, Canasta game yesterday, any other big summer excitement planned for us?” (by Gary)

Good work! The new contest will be up sometime in August — be on the lookout for it.
