Winner of Eli’s Cartoon Caption Contest No. 79

“Would you like to leave the name of your next of kin before entering?”

                                              (by Cary Antebi)

My original caption: “You can go in now. Oh, who should I contact in case of an emergency?”

So, Cary Antebi, you did it once again. Congratulations! This is your twentieth win! Yes, that’s right, this is the twentieth time your caption came out on top, and you did it this time by almost nailing my original caption. As I’ve said many times before, that’s not necessarily the path to victory, but after reviewing all the other captions submitted, I have to admit that yours stands out. You consistently remain one of the funniest people around.

Here are the other captions that I was seriously considering for top honors:

“That IS his smile face.” (by v)

“Can you come back in fifteen? I accidentally scheduled you during his daily identity crisis.” (by Pete Critelli)

“Sir . . . your social media tutor is here.” (also by Pete Critelli)

“I have no idea who that is sitting at your desk!!!” (by Howard Garrett)

“Let’s give him just a moment, he’s unfriending someone.” (also by Pete Critelli)

“I wouldn’t go in unless that piece of paper in your hand contains good news.” (by Sharon)

“Yes, this is the office of happytherapy.com!! Please go in.” (by Milena)

Nice work, everybody. Thanks for participating, and don’t despair, because Contest No. 80 will be coming up soon.

  1. Good choice for the winner.
Good choice for the winner. No despair, as the fun is in the thought process, and creativity.

  2. Thanks Pete. I agree with you
Thanks Pete. I agree with you that the fun is in the thought process and creativity. I’ve been entering Eli’s contest for years, and I never mind waiting on lines anymore, or need to listen to the radio while in traffic. I just entertain myself trying to come up with new captions. Eli’s cartoons have really given us a fun pastime. I think Eli’s caption contest is the best out there. Good luck in the next round

  3. Hmmmm. Now you two wouldn’t

Hmmmm. Now you two wouldn’t be trying to influence the judge, would you? I have made a solemn vow to be totally impartial, upright, honorable,  unbiased, incorruptible, etc., etc., etc. (in all my Caption Contest decisions, anyway).

  4. I would NEVER think of trying
I would NEVER think of trying to influence the judge.

By the way, the check for next week’s contest is in the mail.

  5. “…………Hmmmm? How about
“…………Hmmmm? How about an autographed copy of my winning caption in The New Yorker contest? Better yet, a home cooked Montana supper should your travels ever bring you to the high country. All graft aside, your contest is more engaging due to the pleasant interaction, than any other.
