Winner of Eli’s Cartoon Caption Contest No. 57

“That got me kicked off The Wizard of Oz set.”

                                         (by Dale Stout)

“Then I tickled him to death.”

                                        (by Cary Antebi)

My original caption: “But for a very nervous trigger finger, I could have captured him alive.”

Yes, once again it was such a close tie that I had to declare two winners. So congratulations Dale Stout (three-time winner!) and Cary Antebi (thirteen-time winner!). You can both bask in the glory of being two of the funniest people around.

Much better quality captions this time around, folks. I enjoyed “The Wizard of Oz” connections very much, and thought that the captions with references to “The Lion King” were also very promising (but they needed to be re-worked and re-worded to be really funny).

Here are the other entries that got serious consideration for top honors:

“He was new to the hunt.” (by Gary Zeller)

” ‘Never Compromise.’ That’s my motto.” (by Jonathan)

“And in my office I’ve proudly mounted Dorothy.” (another one by Cary Antebi)

“I didn’t see the white flag, either” (another one by Dale Stout)

Good work all around. Be on the lookout for the next contest — it’ll be coming up before you know it.
