Winner of Eli’s Cartoon Caption Contest No. 52

“What? You said to approach the bench.”

                                           (by John Platt)

My original caption: “I plead guilty, your honor — guilty of being a control freak!”

Well, John Platt, this is your seventh Cartoon Caption Contest win, so you certainly deserve to be recognized as one of the funniest people around. Congrats!

A few random thoughts: 1) I still like my original caption very much, even after all these years. And it still puzzles me why none of my “law” publications didn’t grab my cartoon and print it. 2) I’m surprised that nobody entered a caption involving “Take-Your-Son-To Work-Day” — it seems like such a natural for this drawing. 3) Looking at the paucity of entries, I think you’re all suffering from mild cases of CWBS (Caption Writers’ Block Syndrome) — and the only person who seems to have acquired an immunity to this syndrome is Cary Antebi!

That being said, here are the other captions that I was considering for top honors:

“I sentence you to go to jail for the rest of Opposite Day!” (by Levi)

“This court is out of order.” (by Cary Antebi)

“You’re late. It was only supposed to be a fifteen minute recess.” (also by Cary Antebi)

Contest No. 53 will be coming up soon. Get over your CWBS!
