Winner of Eli’s Cartoon Caption Contest No. 10

Tough one to judge. Where is Mel Brooks when you need him? (Come to think of it, a few of the captions submitted reminded me of Mel Brooks' 2,000-year-old-man routines.) I think I'll just throw up my hands and declare a four-way tie.

Yep, four ways. Here are the winners: captioncontest10.jpg "Can't we just be God's friend on Facebook and call it a day?" (John Platt)

"I'm not complaining but I think we were happier in Egypt." (Leftie)

"But it's not like they're set in stone." (Kelasher)

"If it's only Ten Commandments how come the manual is so thick?" (Cary Antebi)

My original caption: "Big deal! So his God knows how to engrave with laser beams on stone!"

Congratulations, John Platt (second win!), Leftie, Kelasher (fourth win!) and Cary Antebi — you're officially some of the funniest people around!

If anybody's curious which captions almost made the cut, here are the "Honorable Mentions":

"You know, a Kindle would weigh a lot less." (John Platt)

"Those are all 'thou shalt nots' . . . when do we get the 'thou shalt's'?" (Dom Mancino)

"Enough with the Thou Shalt Nots. Just tell me we're not having matzoh for lunch again!" (Levi)

"Get rid of the golden calf? Are you crazy? Did you see what it is going for on e-bay?" (Paul)

"We'll pass on this beta version until you work out all the kinks." (Cary Antebi)

Great work everyone. It looks like Moses (and Mel Brooks) really inspired you all.

New contest coming up shortly, and I promise it won't be as easy as this one was.
