Dog days in Kentucky*
While the dog days of August dry the corn, vigorous tobacco glows yellow-green. The mist rises, hiding the sun at morn. Later, the sun gives way to shadows serene.
The Indigo Bunting a Flash of blue! Golden-rod and yellow goldfinches light the meadows. Daylight hours are becoming too few! Farmers move to take off ripe sorgo.
Autumn will come, then follows wet snow, making hills and fields a winter tableau.
